For Week Beginning December 4, 2011
| The Daughter’s of the King will have their December meeting today following the Solemn Mass. Copies of ‘The Advent Wreath’ are in the narthex today. This pamphlet describes it’s tradition, how to make one and prayers for its use. Our Junior Warden, Mark Stewart, has called for a general workday on Saturday, December 16. The main task will be to board up the second floor windows in the Old Rectory. Please make plans to participate. If you have any knowledge of the whereabouts of a missing candelabra please advise Fr. Stainbrook of Ella Moralez. This is one of the large brass candelabras used at the Altar of Repose during Lent. If you have not yet done so, please fill out a 2012 Pledge Card (available in the Narthex) and place it in the alms basin today. Copies of the “Tithe Table” are available in the Narthex. Many parishioners have found these tables very helpful when calculating their support of God’s Church. Union Gospel Mission Christmas It's
that time of year again and it’s time to think about giving. As we have
done for the past several years, we will provide gifts for the children
and the senior ladies who live at the Mission full time. There are 41
children and 16 seniors. We will prepare gift baskets for the seniors
and fill shoeboxes for the children. We will put one nice gift in the
shoe box and fill it in with candy, small fun toys (tops, toy jewelry,
paints, etc) small things such as Christmas socks, Christmas jewelry,
anything small to fit around one nice toy. We already have some stuffed
animals to use, so we don't really need those unless it is small and
Christmas related. For the senior ladies, toiletries, socks, candy, cheese, crackers. They do not have any facilities for cooking. All items I have listed are just suggestions and your thoughts would certainly be helpful. If you have any questions, please let Marshelle Langston know. If you would like to "adopt" a child for their one nice gift, see me ASAP. Marshelle Langston will also be collecting money to buy Christmas dinner for the residents of the Mission. Any contribution, large or small, will be appreciated. All gifts need to be at the church no later than Dec 17. We will deliver them to the mission on Sunday, Dec 18. Thank you in advance for your support. |
